What is the difference between the Double Fold Ball Hem, Scroll Hem and Spring Hem foot?

The Scroll Hem Foot is the generic rolled hem foot that you get with most machines. It works fine enough, but sometimes the hem is a little uneven and it can be hard to get around thicker areas of the fabric. That being said, with a little practice, this foot will work. The Double Fold Ball Hem Foot has a plate that covers the feed dogs, making it easier to work with to create a double fold hem. This is great for lightweight materials. This foot makes double hems look easy. The third option is the Spring Hem foot. This foot works just like the ball hem foot, however it has a spring built in that is meant to deal with heavier parts of material like seams. This and the ball hem foot both make easy work for double hems.
